What does the TCT warning light mean on an Alfa Romeo?

A gearbox warning light on an Alfa Romeo typically indicates the mechatronic unit, clutch pack or a transmission sensor has detected a fault. The most common causes are mechatronic unit failure, low hydraulic pressure, a worn position sensor, or a clutch pack that has gone beyond its wear limit. In some cases the car will refuse to select gears and go into a safe or limp mode. Do not ignore a gearbox warning light.
