What does the transmission warning light mean on a Cadillac?

A transmission warning light on a Cadillac, or a transmission-related message on the instrument cluster or CUE infotainment display, typically means the Hydra-Matic automatic gearbox has detected a fault with the valve body, solenoid pack, torque converter or a transmission sensor. In some cases the car will enter a reduced-function or limp-home mode with limited gear selection. Do not ignore a transmission warning light.
