Wet-clutch DSGs are used where higher torque capacity is required. Clutch packs, solenoids, mechatronic pressure control, bearings and internal wear can all produce shift complaints.
Volkswagen's hybrid DSG integrates the electric motor into the six-speed transmission. The current Passat eHybrid uses the enhanced DQ400e evo, so hybrid faults require a dedicated diagnostic approach.
A Passat that shudders or hesitates does not automatically need a complete gearbox. Clutch, mechatronic, adaptation, software, flywheel and hybrid-system faults can overlap.
Low-speed shaking can involve clutch wear or adaptation, especially on DSG-equipped cars driven frequently in traffic.

On GTE/eHybrid models, the hybrid control system and DQ400e transmission must be read together because a warning may not originate from a conventional clutch or mechatronic failure.
